Loretta Lynn's Ranch, Tennessee.....April 2012
After leaving the Natchez Trace Bob and Jean went to Nashville to see the Grand Ole Opry. Gary and I were at the Opry in 2001 so we decided that since we were in the area we would visit Loretta Lynn on her ranch. We drove to Hurricane Mills and stayed there overnight. First we visited the Plantation House and then we walked around the town of Hurricane Mills that is on her ranch. The plantation house was built in 1850 by a Confederate soldier. Apparently the house is supposed to be haunted but we didn't see any ghosts while we were there. The house was sold to a rich gentleman in 1896 and he installed electricity. It was the first house to have electricity. People came for miles to see the house lite up at night. In the 1960's Loretta and Mooney Lynn bought the Plantation. It had 3,500 acres. Now the plantation has over 6,500 acres.
